Lieutenant Zach Berg is a lifelong resident of Sutter County and a 2003 graduate of Sutter High School.  After high school, Zach pursued his education at Butte and Yuba College.  In 2008, Zach graduated from the Yuba College Police Academy and began his Law Enforcement Career.

In 2008, Zach joined the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy.  In 2010, Zach was hired as a full time Deputy where his assignments included Patrol, Boat Patrol, Detectives, Reserve Deputy Coordinator and Cadet Advisor

Zach was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2020, where he served on both day and night shifts.  While a Sergeant, he oversaw the main office patrol, Live Oak, the Detective Unit and was also the Admin Sergeant.  Zach promoted to Patrol Lieutenant in 2025 and currently oversees the Patrol Division overseeing both the main office deputies and our boat patrol unit.

Zach resides in Sutter County with his wife Christina and their daughter.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
